Jonathan Cooper

Jonathan Cooper studied music at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, and the clarinet and piano at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he won the Lutine Prize.

As a composer he has collaborated with companies such as the National Theatre, Theatre-Rites, Youth Music Theatre; UK, the David Glass Ensemble, Blind Summit, Stan Won’t Dance and the Royal Ballet.

His requiem, The Red Thread, commissioned by David Glass Ensemble, has been performed throughout the UK as well as in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Vietnam. Jonathon’s songs have been broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction and his chamber music has been performed worldwide including at the City of London Festival, the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Leasowes Music Festival.

Gallimaufry for clarinet and piano and The Funambulist’s Daring Feats for woodwind quartet are published by Emerson Edition. Mabel Stark; Tiger tamer; a musical, is currently in development with the Royal and Derngate Theatres in UK for full production in 2012.
